Mr Hossain is a career diplomat and a member of the Bangladesh Foreign Service since 2006. Prior to his arrival in Australia, he served as the acting High Commissioner at the Bangladesh High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya (2009 -2012) and in Pretoria, South Africa for two months. In 2012, he was assigned to open a new Bangladesh Mission in Port Louis, Mauritius, served as a Counsellor at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Spain from 2012-2015, and Acting High Commissioner in India till 2018 .
Mr. Hossain completed his Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) from Dhaka University. Mr. Hossain is fluent in Bangla, English and Spanish language. He is married and blessed with a daughter.
